Early Lessons From Schools and Out of School time Programs Implementing SEL

The first public report that highlights the collective work of SEL Dallas and the other five communities in the PSELI (Partnership for Social and Emotional Learning Initiative) has been published.

This report takes a look at the study of social and emotional learning implementation to date. It offers early lessons for schools and out-of-school-time programs on how to carry out high-quality social and emotional learning instruction. Read more.

SEL Dallas Virtual Classroom

As some learners and educators continue with virtual learning, teachers and students still need a place were they can connect and learn in a common space. Due to physical distance between our after school program leaders and Dallas ISD colleagues, the SEL team wanted to provide engaging content using Bitmoji!. SEL Specialist Christina Kelso created a how to video on  building a Virtual Classroom in Bitmoji and is currently training other SEL Specialist for their campuses. Christina also explains how to create your a Virtual Locker activity. This is a great tool for adults to build relationships skills and get to know one another.
Supports from RAND 2019 Spring Survey Report

RAND researchers present results from a spring 2019 survey of a nationally representative sample of kindergarten through grade 12 (K–12) public school teachers about their approaches to supporting students’ social and emotional learning (SEL) and the factors that might influence those approaches. Updated CASEL SEL Framework

CASEL recently updated its SEL framework to highlight the important roles played by individual classrooms, schools, families and the community at large. The CASEL 5 addresses five broad and interrelated areas of competence and highlights illustrative examples for each five. It also provides quality implementation of well-designed, evidence-based, classroom programs and practices is a foundational element of effective SEL. Read more.

New Microsoft SEL Badges!

Microsoft has created new SEL elements to Teams and OneNote designed to assist educators in promoting SEL during virtual learning. Read more.
