The students and staff at Daniel Webster Elementary participated in being the "I" in
KIND! Outside the lovely campus 2nd, 4th
and 5th grade students and their teachers took pictures and shared what kindness means to them and looks like at Daniel Webster! Way to go Wildcats! Watch here.

Thriving Minds Afterschool - Tis' the Season

Since the summer, SEL Specialists have supported Thriving Minds program in maintaining meaningful connection with OST students and their families with Creative Kits. SEL Dallas Environmental Scan

The Environmental Scan is a tool designed to help school-based SEL teams and/or observers identify indicators of school wide SEL to support the continuous improvement and comprehensive implementation of SEL. This tool outlines best practices in Social and Emotional Learning in a variety of substructures of campus life. Read more.
Updated SEL Dallas Approach

SEL Dallas recently updated its SEL Leg of Stool to highlight key components of comprehensive social and emotional learning. Our new approach will include four main areas: explicit skills instruction, climate and culture, content integration, and family engagement.
SEL Competencies with Equity Focus

CASEL has updated the descriptions of the five SEL competencies to include connections with equity.  Check out Dallas ISD’s SEL Competencies handout (available in English and Spanish), describing habits and mindsets around self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. CASEL Announces 2020 Awards for Excellence in SEL

Big Thought CEO, Byron Sanders, and Big Thought were recently recognized by CASEL for the Mary Utne O’Brien Awards for Excellence in Expanding the Evidence-Based Practice of SEL.
